VILLAGES OF GANJA-DASHKASAN ECONOMIC REGION AND SETTLEMENT OF THE RURAL POPULATION

Abstract. Ganja-Dashkasan economic district occupies one of the last places in the republic in terms of the number of rural settlements and rural population. The location of Ganja the 3rd largest city of the republic, in this regions plays an important role in the socio-economic and cultural development of rural settlements. In the article, the changes in the number of vil­lages groups and the population living in them du­ring the period of 1999-2019 were analyzed. In 20 years, the number of villages in the economic region decreased by 8 villages. Also, this analysis was carried out by administrative regions, the changes in the administrative structure of each region and their causes were investigated. In addi­tion, information was also provided about the vil­lages that varied their names in economic region. In 2019, the population of 75.8% of the villages in the economic region changed between 200 and 2000 people. In these villages, 63.9% of rural po­pulation of the economic district is gathered.
