STUDY OF URBAN AGGLOMERATIONS AND THEIR SUBURBAN ZONES (METHODOLOGICAL BASES)

Abstract. The article gives methodological approaches to determining of urban agglomerations and their suburban areas. The hierarchy of regional complexes and the role of complex formation in the hierarchy are considered. The authors present agglomerations as the third type of territorial reproduction complex. Complex development implies as commonality of industrial, social, natural objects and human potential in the territory, the ratio, interaction and spatial configuration of which increases the efficiency of their functioning, and, consequently, the region as a whole. Criteria for allocation of territorial reproduction complexes are determined. The foundations and regularities of the complex socio-economic development of urban agglomerations and their suburban areas are determined. Using the method of pattern recognition, group systems of settlements in the Krasnoyarsk Territory were identified. The necessity of strategic territorial planning for the effective development of the region is determined.
