ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROCESSING FUNCTION OF THE RELIEF ON THE SOUTHERN SLOPE OF THE GREATER CAUCASUS (BETWEEN SHINCHAY AND GIRDIMAN RIVERS)

Annotation. The environment-forming function of the relief is mainly related to the fact that it is the main factor determining the differentiation of natural and anthro­po­genic landscapes, air temperature, humidity, soil-vegetation cover, distri­bu­tion of organic and mineral substances, physical-geographic characteristics. Taking into account the ideas that the relief is the basic element of ecosystems and has important recreational resources and aesthetic potential, geomor­pho­logical natural monuments are important in the development of tourism, es­pe­cially ecotourism and geotourism, the concept of relief having an en­vi­ron­ment-creating function has been put forward. In this regard, taking into ac­count the fact that the southern slope of the Great Caucasus has complex na­tural conditions, a unique geomorphological structure, represents one of the most intensively populated areas of our country and has been intensively used for recreation in recent years, we have studied the environment-forming func­tion of the terrain on the example of this area.
