Abstract. The geographical position of the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, its relief, unique natural conditions, and rich natural resources are distinguished by the richness of toponyms. The purpose of the article is to identify the areas where some toponyms are located in Azerbaijan and to study their traces. The territory of Azerbaijan has historically attracted the attention of many tribes and peoples. Therefore, the flow of Turkicspeaking tribes and peoples to the territory of Azerbaijan both from the north and from the east is known from history. Parallels of geographic names in the territory of Azerbaijan are more widespread in the territories of
Siberia and Central Asia. From this point of view, when studying toponyms of Turkic origin in Eastern Europe, Siberia, and neighboring areas, the identification of their territories allows us to say that their strong migration from the East to the West took place as a result of the battles between the separate tribes of peoples of ancient Turkic origin.
