Annotation. Slowing down and limiting the pro-cess of increasing the average temperature on our pla-net, which is a manifestation of global climate changes, requires a significant reduction in the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere. This requires a rapid worldwide transition from traditional energy sources to environmentally friendly renewable energy sources. The Republic of Azerbaijan also signed the Paris Climate Agreement, which was joined by most of the world’s countries, and aimed at full and efficient use of the country’s solar and wind energy resources. Areas with great potential in terms of wind energy in our country are Absheron Peninsula, coastal zone of Caspian Sea, Nakhchivan MR and Ganja-Dashkasan. The article presents the classification of wind speed and power according to the accepted international criteria for the coastal zone of the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea. Based on this distribution using multi-year satellite data, the available wind energy potential for the study area was estimated.
