Annotation
The area covering a certain part of the earth’s surface is a place where human activity is constantly in contact with nature. Along with natural elements such as land, water, and vegetation, the area also includes settle-ments, a road network, power lines and communications, canals, various types of outbuildings, industrial and socio-cultural facilities, and other artificial elements that are the product of human activity. It should be noted that technological development over time affects the soil, surfaces, and atmosphere of the earth, and this, in turn, causes global climate change. The entire landscape structure of the area and infrastructural buildings created by man are changing. Timely monitoring of changes, their mapping, and forecasting for the future is one of the most pressing problems of our time. The article presents the possibilities of updating topographic maps by quickly detecting changes occurring in large areas with the mutual use of GIS programs such as Erdas Imagine, Global Mapper, and ArcGIS Pro.
