Abstract. Conducting of social insurance plays very important role in preventing the consequences of natural and destructive processes, as well as in reimbursing of relevant loss faced by economic enterprises, infrastructure facilities and private houses. Developed countries have wide experience in prevention of the effects of natural and destructive processes due to use of the mechanisms of social insurance. In Azerbaijan, different types of natural disasters regularly occur, as a result of which economic activities and the population may be exposed to damage and economic loss. Hereby, there is a need to manage natural disaster-related social insurance in the country. The problem is urgent particularly for the areas of the Kura-Araz lowland which seasonally sees destructive power of floods. The article deals with the role of conducting of social insurance in the compensation of damages, experienced by population and agricultural fields in the regions, situated along the Kur River.
