THE NATURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF FOREST FIRE FORMATION

Abstract. Forests play a vital role in human exis­tence, serving as the primary source of oxygen through the process of photosynthesis. They are often referred to as the lungs of our planet. Unfortunately, the fores­ted areas are steadily diminishing worldwide, including in our republic, due to various factors such as fires and deforestation driven by both natural events and human activities aimed at expanding agricultural lands and obtaining fuel. Research indicates a significant decline in forested areas in Azerbaijan over the past 3 thousand years, with mountain forests decreasing by 5 times and lowland and tugai forests by 13 times. This decline underscores the urgent need to address forest con­servation and management issues. The article presented focuses on a scientific examination of the charac­te­ris­tics, types, and strategies for combating forest fires in the northwestern part of the southern slope of the Greater Caucasus, home to some of the densest forests in our republic.
