HISTORICAL AND GEOGRAPHICAL ORIGIN OF SOME TOPONYMS OF KELBAJAR REGION

Annotation. The collection and study of the origin of toponyms, which are our national and spiritual heritage, are very relevant from a historical, social and political point of view. Unfortunately, the underground and surface resources of our lands, which had been under occupation for many years, were plundered by the enemy, and the names of the places were changed and Armenianized. The sacred civic duty of every Azerbaijani is to protect and preserve the purity of the origin of toponyms in order to pass on such historical and national heritage to future generations. The article is devoted to oronyms, important and occupying a special place in the toponymy of the Kelbajar region. Oronyms were collected from the inhabitants of Kelbajar, who lived in different cities and regions of Azerbaijan during the occupation of the Kelbajar region by means of a survey. The article for the first time provides information about many oronyms and their origin, which are not included in the scientific literature.
