CHARACTERISTICS OF THE NAME OF SOME WATER BODIES IN UPLAND SHIRVAN TERRITORY

Abstract. The article examines microhydronyms collected from the Upland Shirvan region (Shamakhi, Ismayilli, Gobustan, Agsu, Hajigabul districts). Micro­hydronyms have been grouped and studied as follows. 1. Concerning the residence name. 2. Related to the per­son, tribe, family name. 3. According to the taste, quali­ty, composition of water and quality of rocks in the river valley. 4. According to the shape of the flowing stream. 5. Names created in connection with various natural and accidental events. The study of microhydronyms gives information about climate and climate change in the area. These studies are of particular importance for the establishment and management of farms and the sa­tis­faction of water needs. Schedule and map scheme of microhydronyms collected from Upland Shirvan and its surroundings are given in the article
