ASSESSMENT OF LAND USE AND ECOLOGICAL SUSTAINABILITY IN THE NORTH-EAST SLOPE GEO-COMPLEXES OF THE GREAT CAUCASUS (on the example of the territory between the Gudyalchay-Samurchay rivers)

M.R.Guliyev

Abstract.

Geocomplexes have been formed over the centuries by processes related to natural and anthropogenic factors, and are reflected in regionally different landscape complexes. The article examines the ecological diversity and sustainability of land use in order to increase efficiency in the geocomplexes of the north-eastern slope of the Greater Caucasus (areas between Gudyalchay-Samurchay rivers). In assessing the environmental sustainability of the study, it was justified that the study area belongs to the ecologically stable group. Grouping and assessment were conducted to determine the extent of anthropogenic impacts in the area. Based on the assessment, the study area was found to be moderately exposed to anthropogenic impacts. Inefficient organization of agro-landscapes is one of the main reasons for delaying crop cultivation and increasing production costs. Artificial obstacles in the process of land management and production, as a result, increase the cost of production.

Keywords: agroecology, coefficient of ecological sustainability, anthropogenic load, ecotone, index of ecological diversity, forest cover.
