An analysis of the historical-geographical features of the Mil-Mughan plain highlights that a significant part of the territory was traditionally used as winter pastures. The study reveals that most permanent settlements were concentrated along the banks of the Kura and Araz rivers, while the establishment of new settlements in the early and mid-20th century was largely associated with the construction of new irrigation canals. The article also investigates demographic changes and migration processes from the 19th century up to the 1970s, as well as the founding of Russian villages in the winter pastures of the Shahsevan &#8211; considered the local population &#8211; resulting from Tsarist policies implemented in the Mughan region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>REFERENCES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.
