The population of the Earth is increasing intensively. This increases the impact of the population on the environment, especially on water bodies. Climate and microclimate changes lead to the destruction of water bodies. For this reason, the study of water basins is relevant. Our study area is also distinguished by the fact that water resources are depleted and increasingly intensive as a result of anthropogenic influences. During the research, we used modern methods, decoding of satellite images, processing of remote Sensing materials, GIS technologies, historical and mathematical-statistical methods. At this time, satellite images from June 1987 and 2023 were selected. Based on it, the NDW index (Normalized Water Difference Index) of Nakhchivan AR area was analyzed.
