Abstract<\/strong>. The article examines the origin of the Azerbaijani people, the historical and geographical position of our country and the historical monuments created by the local Turkic people living here. Re\u00adsearch in recent years once again confirms that Turkic-speaking tribes made up the majority of the population living on the territory of Azerbaijan. By studying the history and geography of the ancient Turkic land of Karabakh using geographical facts and scientific evi\u00addence of the territory, the main goal was to clarify the geographical location of historical monuments.\u00a0Historical and geographical information shows that in different periods, for one reason or another, the country of Karabakh had different geographical names until the 12th-13th centuries. However, although some of these names existed temporarily, they covered individual provinces of Karabakh. In late antiquity and the early Middle Ages, part of Karabakh was geo\u00adgra\u00adphically called the country of Gargars. That is, ac\u00adcor\u00adding to ancient authors, the Gargar tribe, which once lived in the basin of the current Gargar River, entered the union of Albanian tribes. The authors who provided information about the Gargars considered them to be one of the largest tribes of ancient Albania, and in the early Middle Ages they settled one part of the Mil Plain. And they created a rich material culture on these lands.<\/p>\n
