\nAnnotation<\/strong>. Areas under different forest types and some physico-chemical characteristics of the barren mountain-forest, rotten mountain-forest and brown mountain-forest soils located in the upper reaches of the Hekari river basin were studied in the article. The research has been conducted on the impact of volcanic and landslide and landslide deposits on soil granulometric composition, water retention, drainage, and water permeability in the middle mountain belt at an altitude of 1000-2000 meters above sea level. In the research, the impact of the geomorphological structure of the area, its altitude above sea level, slope inclination, exposure, and changes within a wide range of climate factors on the formation of soil types is being investigated. The research has focused on examining the impact of the degree of fragmentation of the narrow river network and dry valleys, as well as the diversity and density of forest species composition, on the formation of various subtypes of barren mountainforest, degraded mountain-forest, and chestnut forest soils in the basin. Extensive research has been conducted on the widespread destruction of valuable Oak and Hornbeam forests in the area by the occupiers, the alteration of the lower boundary of forests, and the degree of soil degradation in deforested areas and areas that have emerged from under the forest cover.<\/p>\n
