Annotation<\/strong>. The methodical approaches to the study of heterogeneity of landscape diversity, the choice of quantitative indicators for its evaluation are considered in current article. The use of entropy measures and mathematical-statistical indicators, on the one hand, opens up the possibility of quantitatively revealing the heterogeneity of the horizontal landscape structure of natural areas, and on the other hand, determining the characteristic features of the formulas themselves. The possibility of using the formula to calculate the co\u00adefficient of landscape heterogeneity, which is easy to use and saves time by eliminating cartometric measu\u00adrements, is revealed. The importance of determining the ratio of the areas of typological units of geocomplexes, to study the geographical features of changes in landscape heterogeneity is established. If the values \u200b\u200bof landscape fragmentation are directly dependent on the number of landscape contours, then the indicators of the coefficient of landscape heterogeneity depend no more on the number of typological units, but mainly on the ratio of their areas. Landscape metrics computed using multi-temporal maps, showed a steady downward trend over the past 40-50 years across all physiographic regions of the Greater Caucasus. A brief analysis of the factors, influencing the parameters of the landscape structure of the regions is given.<\/p>\n
