Abstract.<\/strong>\u00a0Based on data collected by 32 meteorological stations located in various regions of the country, we calculated current (1992\u20132006) monthly, seasonal and annual climate normals for precipitation. We also prepared maps of rainfall distribution throughout the year and the warm period as well as maps of moisture zones. We found that compared to the base period (1961\u20131990), the annual rainfall quantity in a large part of the country decreased by 15\u201384 mm (3\u201319%), and only increased by 73\u2013135 mm (6\u201314%) in the western part of the southern slope of the Greater Caucasus and by 7\u201318 mm (3\u20136%) on the Absheron peninsula and the coastal area to the north of it. Moisture zone boundaries have remained virtually unchanged. Ac\u00adcording to the reviewed climate change scenarios, the future annual rainfall quantity can be expected to change by -1\u2013 -5% or +4\u2013+20%. Depending on which scenario is implemented, we can expect a 15\u201335% increase in annual evaporation and a 70\u2013540 mm increase in moisture deficit. That is, all scenarios predict that conditions of natural moistening will deteriorate, which can cause moisture zone boundaries to shift in the direction of the mountain.<\/p>\n
